Made-to-measure roller blinds

Choose a roller blind around what you do in the room. A fabric that helps with glare at a desk can still leave a view through to the street. For a bedroom, the fit around the window matters as much as the fabric you choose.

Fabric first, then colour

Choose how much light you want to let in, then compare colours in that fabric range. At your window, try a sunscreen swatch against the view or a blockout swatch next to the wall. The colours available depend on the range.

Choosing for your windows

Which roller blind fabric should I consider?

Sunscreen fabric can reduce glare while preserving some daytime view. After dark, the view can reverse when your lights are on. Light-filtering fabric diffuses daylight and softens the view. Blockout fabric stops light passing through the fabric itself.

Will a blockout blind make the room completely dark?

Light can still enter around the edges. Brackets take up space beside the fabric, so a blind fitted inside the recess can leave a strip of light. A face fit may give the fabric more overlap. The window frame and nearby handles affect what will work.

What can we check at your window?

We can hold samples against the glass, look at where the blind will roll up and check whether it will clear the handle. If you want a daytime view as well as privacy at night, ask us to talk through the options for that window.

Can I put a blockout roller behind my existing sheers?

Often, if the window recess has enough space for the roller to clear the glass, handles and sheer fabric. A roller leaves the walls at the sides free for the sheer to gather. If the recess is shallow or the window opens inwards, ask us to check how the blind and the window would move before choosing a fit.

What to check with a roller blind sample

FabricTry this at your window
SunscreenLook through the sample from the seat or desk you normally use. Compare how clearly you can see the garden or street through different weaves.
Light-filteringHold two colours against the glass, then against the wall. Backlighting can change how warm each fabric looks in your room.
BlockoutHold the sample to the light, then look at where the fitted fabric would end. The swatch shows what the material blocks. The fit determines where light might enter beside it.
