Made-to-measure blockout curtains
If the first light wakes you, blockout curtains give you an opaque layer across the glass. Choose a fabric with its own blockout coating or a decorative fabric with a separate blockout lining. Both draw to the sides when you want the window open to the view.

Can a light-coloured curtain block light?
Yes. The coating or blockout lining can stop light passing through a pale curtain. Choose the colour you want to see from the room. At your free measure, hold samples beside the wall or bedhead and switch on your reading lamp to compare the tones.
Choosing for your windows
What is the difference between coated and lined blockout curtains?
A coated curtain has a light-blocking layer bonded to the back of the face fabric. A lined curtain has a separate blockout lining sewn behind the decorative fabric. With a lined curtain, the face fabric and lining move together when you draw it.
Will blockout curtains stop all the morning light?
Blockout fabric stops light passing through the fabric itself. Light can still reach the room over the track, around the sides or between two panels. At your measure, show us where the first light appears. We can check the track height, the overlap at the centre and how close the curtain can sit to the wall.
Can I open my sheer and blockout curtains separately?
Yes. On a double track, each curtain moves on its own. Draw back the blockout and leave the sheer across the window for daytime light. Close the blockout for privacy after dark, or open both for a clear view. We check the space needed for two tracks and the fabric at each side.
I already have sheers. Should I add a blockout curtain or a roller blind?
If there is room above the glass but little wall space at the sides, ask about a roller behind the sheer. Check for handles, the depth of the recess and the gap beside the fabric. A second curtain draws sideways and needs room for another track and the folds. We can look at your existing track and check both options at your window.
What should I show you if I sleep during the day?
Take a photo at the time the room is too bright, from where you put your head on the pillow. A strip of light down one side points us towards the fabric edge. Light down the middle of a pair of curtains points us towards the overlap. Bring the photo to the measure so we can look at that exact spot.
